Annual Appeal - Friday 6th and Saturday 7th October 2017
Dementia Canterbury fundraises for two thirds of its operational costs. This is a big task, and one we could not do without the support of our community.
Volunteers are always welcome to assist on our Annual Appeal days. If you wish to become involved please contact our office on 03 379 2590 or 0800 444 776 (West Coast 0800 259 226).
Sell for support
Garage sales, bake sales and barbeque’s are easy and enjoyable ways to raise funds for the dementia-community and anyone can do it! Just gather clothing, kitchen items, furniture, collectables and other desirable items and set up shop in your garage or at a market. If you love getting busy in the kitchen, you could whip up a whole lot of cupcakes, cookies and slices and sell them for a couple of dollars each. If you prefer a good old barbeque then a sausage sizzle might be the way to go for you.
Push yourself for sponsorship
Need a reason to get active? Or perhaps you want to do something in memory of a friend or family member you lost to dementia? Why not set yourself a physical challenge and participate in a running, cycling, swimming or triathlon event! Get your friends and family to sponsor you to make a difference for people living with dementia.
Dementia movie screening
A very powerful way, educative as well as supportive, is to screen a movie about dementia for family, friends or perhaps a community group you are involved in. We have two movies available, ‘Alive Inside’ and ‘Still Alice’.
Birthday, wedding or Christmas gift donations
For your special day, such as your birthday or wedding, or for Christmas, you could ask friends and family to support the work of Dementia Canterbury, rather than giving presents.
